About Loan Tran

I was born in Saigon, Vietnam and emigrated to the UK in 1962.   I first heard about Rolfing whilst living in Paris, and used it to treat a knee injury from my practise of Aikido, a Japanese martial art.

I found Rolfing very beneficial on both a physical and psychological level and decided to train shortly after that.  After learning Shiatsu and Swedish massage I went on to train in Munich and received my diploma from the Rolf Institute in 1989.

What initially attracted me to Rolfing, and still makes the work rewarding for me, is its approach to treating the whole person - a human being who is made up of emotional, physical and spiritual elements and not simply a body which is a collection of joints and muscles.

In 1997 I also trained in Rolfing Movement.  I use this to help my clients become more aware about how they move and use their bodies so that they can move with greater ease in everyday life. This is particularly useful for clients who use their body in sports or performing arts.

I feel strongly about the value of the arts and how they can give a feeling of potential and connection.   These feelings link with my own experience of Rolfing and nourishes how I work.  As a result,  clients often say they feel more open and a better sense of connection physically and emotionally, after their sessions.

One of the things I appreciate most about my work as a Rolfer is how it brings me into contact with people from all walks of life.  I look on it as having the privilege of sharing part of a journey with them and helping them move to where they want to be.
